By Katherine Haden, Divorce Lawyer based in the Midlands
‘I’ve known Jackie for about 10 years, and we were discussing setting up a new Collaborative Law group in the Midlands last year. Jackie’s suggestions were invaluable.
Most solicitors and advocates have well-defined comfort zones, and the prospect of finding a suitable venue in Birmingham for our new group, as well as marketing for the launch, were well outside of my comfort zones. Jackie mentored me and helped me to develop my personal and professional skills.
Over a period of roughly 12 weeks, with Jackie’s mentoring the project moved from concept to delivery, and I was so grateful to have weekly mentoring calls with Jackie. At times, it was hard to motivate 36 other lawyers and ‘pressing the flesh’ to get the group started, but Jackie was there throughout for me.
I ended up launching the group from prestigious Barristers’ Chambers in Birmingham, with both legal and non-legal individuals attending the launch, including the Press. It was really positively received last year.
I’ve continued to utilise Jackie’s outstanding mentoring services, and the group has attracted the attention of Collaborative Lawyers outside of the Midlands, which is a brilliant result.
We’re now co-ordinating Day Training sessions in Collaborative Law, which we plan on commencing from October. There are also monthly meetings held in Birmingham, which provide support and strategy for the group.
I’ll continue to work with Jackie, as her personal coaching and mentoring services have made, and continue to make, such a valuable difference.’
